This year, our Christmas Parties turn 27! The Fort Worth Chapter of Credit Unions has been hosting their annual Christmas Carnival event for the 27th year in a row.
This year marks the 27th annual Carnival for Sam Rosen Elementary in Fort Worth, and the 17th annual Christmas Carnival at Webb Elementary in Arlington.
This year the parties will be held during the first and second weeks of December. Many volunteers, sponsor credit unions, and preferred partners work very hard to put these parties on and make a wonderful Christmas experience for the children. During the event, children take home a photo button of them with Santa, play games with credit union volunteers where they win prizes, receive a goody bag, and enjoy special entertainment (last year from the Joshua High School “Sweetheart” Dance Team).
If you haven’t volunteered before, you’re really missing out. These events are a humbling experience, and after you do it once, you’ll definitely want to do it again each year. On average these parties cost $10,000, and takes many volunteers to put on, but it is well worth the cost and time when you see the children’s eyes light up. For some, this is the only Christmas celebration they receive.
